As you celebrate a year together, we have the privilege of looking after you and spoiling you both. Come on a journey and revel in each other's company with an intimate dining experience designed with just you in mind.
On the day of departure – Travel with our tailored instructions to one of our beloved beaches, Piha, on the west coast of Auckland. Majestic, wild and rugged, it is the perfect setting for a relationship cemented.
2pm ARRIVAL – Don’t forget your swim items so that once you arrive to your private property nestled amongst native bush with views of the stunning Tasman Ocean you can arrive to your favourite music playing before enjoying straight away the cedar hot tub nestled in the native trees whilst the log burner warms the house through for you to enjoy afterwards.
This modern home in our portfolio provides a comfortable, authentic experience within a distinct relaxing environment and atmosphere that will evoke treasured memories of an anniversary celebrated. With a indoor outdoor flow there is enough space for relax in ALL weathers, unwind and sink into the onsite hot tub – perfect under the stars on a chilly winter evening as you soak away with a glass of champagne hidden under the canopy of native bush.
You may even wish to take a short drive down to the beach either before a soak in the tub or afterwards – you decide. But with such stunning scenery, a scarf and a jacket wrap up against Te Uru (wind of the west) and take a wild walk along the beach as the ocean roars and foams.
6.30pm – Your private chef will arrive to greet you and to prepare a delicious five course evening meal as you while away the early evening with a little music and a selection of refreshments matched to your menu. If wine is not a preference then we can work with you to detail what you do want to enjoy along with your menu.
Learn before your dining experience begins with chef the art of the Crème brûlée, also known as burnt cream or Trinity cream. A dessert consisting of a rich custard base topped with a texturally contrasting layer of hardened caramelized sugar. It is normally served piping hot; the heat from the caramelizing process tends to warm the custard producing a hot centre.
The evening once dinner is completed is yours to relax….enjoy a movie together and rest or read or listen to music or simply throw open the glass doors and listen to the sounds of the ocean as the wood burner keeps you cosy!
Awaken to peace and quiet after a good night’s rest. Enjoy a leisurely breakfast from our selection of home made bread, conserves, salmon and croissants freshly baked with good coffee, tea and juice.
11.00am – Depart your peaceful haven and take a peek at some stunning scenic spots we recommend on the journey home. May we suggest you park at The Mercer Bay Loop and take the right hand side track and walk at least down the the Maori statue. The track makes its way along the top of the highest sea cliffs in the Auckland region and provides great views north towards Muriwai and south to Whatipu.
The west coast of Auckland has so much to offer and below are just a few our our favourite spots and experiences:
Te Uru Gallery in Titirangi Village
Maybe either before you go to Piha Beach or afterwards as you travel back, you may want to stop in and explore Te Uru Waitakere Contemporary Gallery located in Titirangi Village, Auckland. The gallery, which serves the West Auckland region, was originally opened within Lopdell House in 1986 and holds some amazing exhibitions – well worth a stop and the perfect place to rest and have lunch in the village. Titirangi is a suburb in the Waitakere Ward of the city of Auckland in northern New Zealand. It is an affluent, residential suburb located at the southern end of the Waitakere Ranges. Enjoy walking around this stunning township, visiting the local shops and bespoke cafes. We highly recommend a visit to Deco Eatery for a classic Kiwi coffee and a lunch.
KiteKite Falls
Also known as Kitakita Falls, this spectacular waterfall is located in the western part of Waitakere Ranges Regional Park. A 45-minutes’ Kitekite Falls Track starts from the carpark and leads to the waterfall’s base. The track is a more or less easy one, which offers excellent views of the falls and has some benches along the way to relax after a few uphill sections. The last part of the track has some stairs, which can be slippery, so please take care while you’re going downstairs. There is a cool swimming spot at the waterfall’s base, so don’t forget a towel in summer but wrap up warm in winter.
Lion Rock and Piha Beach
No visit to Piha is complete without viewing Piha’s most iconic landmark – Lion Rock. Its profile from all angles is known nation-wide and Geologically is the neck of a volcano which erupted 16 million years ago. I would highly recommend letting the lion lay behind you as you track to the left of the lion across the whole beach to the mighty gap known for it’s ferocious tides crashing in whilst you perch on the rocks and take the perfect vantage point.
