Of all the principles of Maoritanga the one of Manaakitanga is the one we feel instantly related to the underlying principles of Choice Aggregates and it's people. The idea of caring about others, uplift them, support them, make them feel at home and loved is one of our deepest cultural values here in New Zealand. He aha te mea nui o te ao What is the most important thing in the world? He tangata, he tangata, he tangata It is the people, it is the people, it is the people!
Now that you have arrived into Auckland and enjoyed a restful first night, we have the privilege of showcasing Auckland and it’s hidden depths to you today.
Leaving your central hotel in a safari of iconic Land Rover and Range Rover vehicles pick your favourite and journey with your driver in convoy to a stunning and historical place called Te Henga (Bethells Beach.)
Te Henga (Bethells Beach) is a coastal community in the Auckland Region and a 40 minute scenic drive from Auckland central. The Māori name Te Henga, meaning sand, and is the home to the iconic black sand beach approximately 30 kilometres west of Auckland City, at the mouth of the Waitakere River where it flows into the Tasman Sea.
One of the top film locations in New Zealand and why? Simply come and see the land locked black sand dunes, the moonscapes, the lakes, the people and the rustic outdoor Auckland life that captures the stunning North Island to perfection.
The sand dunes have accumulated in several phases over the last 4,500 years. This accumulation has occurred since sea levels returned to about their present levels following the last glaciation 6,500 years ago. These sands contain quantities of black titanomagnetite derived from the volcanic rocks of Taranaki and carried north by coastal currents. The dunes continually move in a dynamic coastal process. There are three dune-impounded lakes: Lake Wainamu, Lake Kawaupaka and Lake Waiataru.
There is a moment that brings people together in the culture that is Maori.
The land plays a big part but it is the people that weave the stories into a rich memory.
All guests gathered in a spectacular scenic setting will be welcomed with a powhiri from the local iwi who will blend old welcomes with new friends.
Watch and take part in the lowering of the hangi which is the traditional method of cooking before we begin our safari through these stunning landscapes.
Navigate yourselves or with your private driver native forest, film locations, historical landmarks, lakes, dunes and rivers as the story of Auckland unfolds with you as a part of that story.
Return for a rustic lunch with the typical “Kiwi”BBQ combining a gourmet approach showcasing fresh local fish, steak, chicken and yummy vegetarian options as well as bringing up the Hangi and tasting the venison, pork and lamb.
Enjoy an afternoon of fun with each other as you drive through a treasure hunt with a difference. Through bringing in our very own Bear Grylls survival expert, we will have tailored wilderness bonding experiences and challenges will be laid out to drop your teams into a scenarios designed to make strong bonds for the whole week and beyond.
Teams work through the challenges and once successfully navigated, collect their tokens for a special gift at the end of the early evening with the sun beginning to set.
Return to base and enjoy your cultural photography session as a lasting memory. Don clothing from a bygone age and sit as our ancestors did as European influence merged with ancient Maori elders resulting in a memory for you to cherish as a blending of your and our culture.
Now to dine in this original authentic barn lit with magic, music and atmosphere. Begin with a selection of fine dining canapés combined with a delicious introduction to Auckland Wines, enjoy our local Babich sommelier as he takes you through a complete New Zealand wine journey accompanied by canapés specially designed around the wines to compliment the palate for maximum enjoyment.
