Saturday's Adventure

10.00 am – Arrive at Kennedy Bay on the stunning Waiheke Island and begin a special day. Enjoy the view from Half Moon Bay on the journey across.

10.20am – Begin the day with a tea blending in the village of Oneroa with Timmy Smith. 143 Oceanview Road, Oneroa, Auckland 1081.

With stunning views over the Hauraki Gulf, this is definitely a place to take a picture together as you enjoy a sample of the tea or iced tea blends. Make your own version of tea that you can take away with you to enjoy for a leisurely breakfast the following day or sample as a memory in the future.

Afterward, you can wander around the lovely island village of Oneroa for a little while perusing the village shops and if you really to try a great coffee, this would be the perfect moment to do so. and maybe a sample of the island gelato. The flavours and processes are orchestrated by the work of a passionate chef who was a runner-up in the last Master Chef New Zealand programme. Constantly adapting, experimenting and testing new ingredients in the pursuit of that perfect mouthful of excitement, it should be on your radar but not if you are holding on for Franco’s hand baked goods…

Now for a little bit of Italian indulgence. Stop in at Franco’s La Panetteria across the road from Te Matuku at 30 Belgium Street, Ostend, Auckland 1081.

Franco’s Bakery is situated in the heart of Waiheke Island. They specialise in Italian baking with pan-European flair. Franco’s is a very popular little bakery, located in the new central business district of Ostend and the sweet treats are simply to die for.

30min Drive to Man o War

12.00pm Man O War… 725 Man O’war Bay Road, Waiheke Island, Auckland 1971

Take a gentle drive along a gravel road, encompassing wide landscape views from the tops of hills, to lush, subtropical forests. PLEASE DRIVE CAREFULLY

The idyllic Man O’ War Bay is located at the very Eastern end of Waiheke Island. Showcasing their current release Flagship and Single Vineyard wine ranges alongside select limited library stock wine it is a must-do on your Waiheke itinerary.

Upon arrival enjoy a tasting of the range with our friendly, knowledgeable staff in the colonial ambiance of the Tasting Room where the sustainably sourced solid Kauri bar takes pride of place alongside the wines and the vintage photographs, maps, and art that lattice the walls and tell the story of Man O’ War’s legacy, land, and wine.

Waiheke is the home of some of New Zealand’s finest Syrah and Bordeaux blend wines. The vineyards are boutique in size and offer a great diversity of wines, tourist and epicurean experiences which are easily accessible on this relatively small island.

Linger here for lunch as it is the only vineyard that has its own beach so definitely a place to spend some quality time.

2.30- 3.00 pm – Arrival to your vineyard property THE WINEMAKER’S COTTAGE

6.00pm THE PROPOSAL

A driver has been booked to collect you both at 5.45pm

The outdoor garden plan will be perfect but if upon arrival the weather is not good, Peter will arrange with James from Poderi a nice place indoors suitable for a proposal and will make sure you are informed so you can adapt in plenty of time.

James will set up a little table with two glasses of Prosecco at the wharf. Please take a flat pair of shoes for Prinaka just in case if she needs to slip them on.

SUNDAY

10.30 am – Begin with a drive to Trigg Hill, a perfect lookout on the island to feel the morning breeze and a stunning view to begin the day together after a check out from THE WINEMAKER’S COTTAGE

Palm Beach is a must for today ( weather permitting ) to take a stroll and enjoy a truly beautiful beach and brunch before heading across to Rangihoua Estate and pop in for a sample of this island’s award-winning olive oil.

Now heading off to Tantalus, enjoy a vineyard lunch before heading to Oneroa village and finish later afternoon with a perfect island gelato 124 Ocean View Road, Oneroa, Waiheke Island 1081, and enjoy some award-winning gelato and Allpress coffees. We use organic jersey milk and seasonal local fruit to make up a wonderful selection of sorbets, and gelatos.

The Winemaker's Cottage

Not long till you’re stay on the Island. Please could you give us an indication of your arrival time so we can make sure the property is ready for you and leave a key on site for your collection,

ARRIVAL – Mar 20 2021 – The property will be ready for you from 2pm

DEPARTURE – Mar 21 2021 – by 10 am

When you arrive – come in through the entrance posts and follow the drive around to the right for 30 meters. The Cottage is just down the driveway on the Right and feel free to park there to unload the car. Then it is best to leave your car in a parking space outside the small tasting room which is on the left as you come through the entrance posts.

Its a magical spot and Lucs wines are ( in my opinion) the best on the island. There will be a complimentary bottle for your arrival.

COVID 19 – TRACING – As we have all worked hard to ensure NZ is COVID FREE – please make sure you download the Governments NZ COVID TRACER AP from the App store so you can create a digital diary of places you visit by scanning the official QR codes. There is a QR code at the property. Please be vigilant and help us keep Waiheke Safe.

Remember it is compulsory to wear a face mask on all public transport including our ferries.

WHAT TO BRING + USEFUL INFO: PLEASE BRING A TORCH AND BEACH TOWELS

At the house, you will find:

KITCHEN & PANTRY ITEMS – Kitchen supplies including, salt, oil and cleaning products. You are welcome to use other perishable items from the pantry as long as you replace them. Plunger, microwave and most modern kitchen utensils.

BATHROOM ITEMS – Soap, body wash and toilet tissue are provided.

LINEN – All bed linen and bath towels, bath mats, hand towels are provided. Please bring your own beach towels.

PROPERTY INFORMATION BOOKLET – This contains all the information you need for running the house and useful numbers and information about Waiheke, to make your stay easy and pleasant.

THINGS TO KNOW:

Fullers Ferries operate a regular bus service between Matiatia Ferry Terminal and Oneroa, Blackpool, Surfdale, Palm Beach, Ostend & Onetangi to meet each Fullers ferry sailing.

TAXIS – if you need a cab we’d advise booking in advance and they will meet you from the ferry- its worth asking for the price as taxis can be expensive on the island. RECOMMENDED Q& P shuttles – (SAM) 022 636 4799 – as better value – & good for larger groups

WATER:

All properties on Waiheke harvest rainwater. During periods of drought, water on Waiheke is in extremely short supply. There will enough water for your stay, however, we do ask that you are careful with water usage.

A note about this house:

Please note that the owner and neighbours are very sensitive to any groups being on the property and the maximum number of people is not to exceed 6 additional visiting guests of the lessee. Failure to comply with this will result in loss of bond. If any parties, functions or gatherings occur on the property you may be asked to leave the property with no refund given for nights outstanding. This includes after-wedding parties or BBQs.

Repairs and Maintenance:

Our properties are all privately owned homes. Sometimes things go wrong and if this happens, we will do our best to fix them as soon as possible, however immediate maintenance is not always available. We are available 24/7 for emergencies
